What the hell, I’m not even going to feign modesty. I just found out that I won first place in the 50+ Travel category for print articles in the 2013 competition sponsored by the North American Travel Journalists Association.
This is the third year in a row I’ve won this award. I also won the Gold Medal for internet articles in 50+ Travel (last year I won Silver). Two other articles were finalists in this category.
The winning articles, with links, are “Kayaking with Orcas in the Johnstone Strait” (print) and “Crouching Tiger” (internet). The other finalists are “Touching the Cosmos in Antarctica” (the original title, not the one the editors used) and “Monkeys and More in the Peruvian Amazon.”
